Bu gün eğer, medeni ülkeler düzeyinde bilim ve teknolojik birikime sahipsek, dünyanın en gelişmiş ordularından birine ve çağdaş anlayışla yetişen bir gençliğe sahipsek, bunu Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk’e borçluyuz. Cumhuriyet tarihimizin en ön önemli mihenk taşlarından biri de şüphesiz ki, Atatürk’ün, Milli Kurtuluş hareketimizin fitilini ateşlediği Samsun yolculuğudur. 19 Mayıs 1919 tarihi, bu günkü Cumhuriyetimizin temelidir.
Today, if we have scientific and technological knowledge at the level of civilized countries, if we have one of the most developed armies in the world and a youth who grew up with a modern understanding, we owe it to Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. Undoubtedly, one of the most important milestones of our republican history is Atatürk's journey to Samsun, where he ignited the fuse of our National Liberation movement.
