Belgrad Forest is a naturally formed wooded area located on the European side of Istanbul, at the easternmost tip of the Çatalca Peninsula. It is the natural borders of the Bosphorus in the east and the Black Sea in the north. While it was the most important source of drinking water to Istanbul during the Byzantine and Ottoman periods; Since the water supplied to the city today is far below the city's needs, its recreational function predominates.
